Denise Russell Drag Queen/Barbie Cake

I was asked to do a Drag Queen cake for Denise Russell who is celebrating 30 years in the business.  I don't have a picture of here to post to compare it to the doll though.  The dress I did is very similar to one she wears during her show.  I hope she liked it.  I know other people at the event loved it!

The doll was double chocolate fudge cake and was iced in buttercream with edible glitter accents and pearls and the microphone was made from fondant.  The stage was a fudge marble cake iced in buttercream with fondant accents for the silouhettes and lights on top of the stage was made with fondant also.

Course 2 - Flowers & Design Final Cake

Yay!! I finally completed Wilton Course 2 and this is my final cake.  I decided to do a basketweave cake with royal icing roses and rosebuds.  I can't believe how easy this technique is, time consuming though.

Patty Cake, Patty Cake!

I baked this cake for a very special lady who has alot of faith in me in my creations.  Patty used to do wedding cakes and can't no longer but has so much faith in me that she gave her cake pans, books, tools, etc.  The least I could do was bake her a cake to show my gratitude.  Since I have been wanting to try scroll work, I thought I'd give it a shot on her cake.

I really enjoyed spending my day with you, Sonny, Aunt Jeanie & Uncle Harry, Honey and my little man, Sean.  We had a wonderful visit, lunch was great and so was the cake if I do say so myself :)!

Congratulations Chirstina!!

Congratulations Chirstina on your upcoming bundle of joy!  Thank you for the pleasure of making your shower cake and cookies.  I had a ball with these.

Hope you had a wonderful shower!!

Up for a game of golf?

I was asked if I would do cookies for a fundraiser for Natalie's Dance Co.  They were having a golf outing and this is what I came up with.  I have to say this  must be one of my favorite projects I have done so far.

I am so pleased with these.  I hope everyone enjoyed them!

Soccer Time

I had a request for soccer balls.............let me tell you, not the easiest thing to do.  Here's the end result.

They didn't come out too bad huh?  Well, at least I know I can do them....lol

Want to go bowling?

It was my brother-in-laws birthday and he came to visit us from Florida.  He's a huge bowler, it's practically his passion so I decided why not make this cake for his birthday.  He's not much of a cake person, but he sure loves my sugar cookies which is what I made the bowling pins out of.  I made a devils food chocolate cake with buttercream icing.  I hand painted the ball and the cake to make it look like a floor.  Take a look.....

Then I realized I didn't have anywhere to write "Happy Birthday" so my husband suggested I do it on a pin.
Here's a side view

and another side view

My brother-in-law is not a big cake person but he loved it!  We did too!

Happy Birthday Donny

CHOCOLATE!!

I had a craving for chocolate today..................so I made a cake!!  It was banana cake with chocolate buttercream frosting.  It was so yummy and definitely satisfied my craving.  Now I need to find someone to finish it off so I don't eat the whole thing.  Good thing I only made a small cake :)

Would you like a glass of wine?

A friend of ours makes wine and has been asking my husband if I would make him a cake for a few months now.  I was so busy with the cookies for a while that I never really had a chance but I had a vision of what I wanted to do.  He had no idea.  This is the result.......

The pictures really don't do it justice, the grapes and wine bottle look black, they were actually dark purple.  The decorations were were all done in buttercream icing (can't wait to learn fondant, OMG will I have fun!).

This cake was so much fun and I can't wait to do more like this.  Are you ready for a glass of wine now?  I sure am!!

Smiley, happy cake!

Makes me think of spring/summer time!!  Well I was making this cake just for practice and it didn't really turn out the way I wanted.  I actually did a pipe gel transfer off of a greeting card (the flowers had no stems) and they were straight across.  I modified the flowers to arch a little and I had planned on writing something in the center.  Well as you can see that didn't happen.  It just didn't look right, so I added stems and leaves and another flower.  A few flowers I really don't like, but I love the sides and the borders on the cake and the color scheme.  The cake was a one-layer banana cake with buttercream frosting.  I'm finally learning the proper consistencies with my icing...yay!!

Oh, I forgot to mention, it was so yummy!!!!!!

Wilton Cake Class, Course 1 Basics

Yay!! I completed my first course of cake decorating and I loved it!!  Next week I'll begin Course 2, Flowers and Design!!  I learned so much and can't wait to learn more.  Here is a pic of my final cake, (red victorian roses, blue rosettes for border, and dots for accents).  What perfect colors for the 4th of July weekend!!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

Its the 4th of July!!  Need to have some festive cookies to celebrate the day.  I took some of these to Greg's Over the Hill birthday party and the rest of the them are going to be sold for Relay for Life to raise money for cancer.  I really love how they turned out.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

This one has to be one of my favorites!
Have a safe and happy 4th of July everyone!!
